The shrine's pillars feature exquisite wood carvings depicting Amis creation myths — a precious indigenous art heritage. The annual Harvest Festival (Ilisin) in July-August is the grandest celebration, where the entire tribe gathers for singing, dancing, and ancestral worship, thanking the kawas (ancestral spirits) and nature for their blessings. The festival's dances, feasts, and age-grade system showcase the essence of Amis social structure and culture.

Taitung Tianhou Temple

Taitung Tianhou Temple is the oldest Mazu temple in Taitung and the only official Qing dynasty temple in Eastern Taiwan. It is famous for the 'Bombing of Master Handan' ceremony during the Lantern Festival, one of Taiwan's top three folklore events alongside the Pingxi Sky Lanterns and Yanshui Beehive Fireworks. The event features brave volunteers representing Master Handan being bombarded with firecrackers, symbolizing prosperity and driving away the cold.

Penghu Tianhou Temple is the oldest temple in Taiwan, confirmed by historical records to predate 1604. Matsu Tianhou Temple, overlooking Matsu Harbor in Nangan, is the most important religious center in the Matsu Islands and the only temple in the world with the 'Spiritual Cave of Mazu' — believed to be where Mazu's body was buried. Legend says Mazu drowned while searching for her father at sea, and her body drifted to this shore. The Matsu Islands were named after the goddess. The annual 'Mazu Ascension Festival' on the 9th day of the 9th lunar month is the islands' grandest religious event.
